Program Director's Message

The Natural and Engineering Sciences' Program seeks to advance the scientific level of its academic programs to the top of what could be a center of vocational ambition. The program's teaching process has been built on a strong basis fed with highly qualified staff to handle and teach the several courses of the program. The student of the program can notice during his studies the close link between the theoretical and practical sides of all issues they learn. They can also apply several projects as a means of preparing them to perform practical and technical tasks associated with the courses they studied. This valuable program provides opportunities for student to enroll in one of the government and private agencies for the summer training to shape their talents and preparing them for the labor market.

Currently, the Natural and Engineering Sciences Program provides two Diplomas: one in Communications & Computer Networks and the other in Programming and Databases. In the light of the increasing importance of telecommunication and computer networks, and their observed growth at local, national and international levels within institution buildings or branches as well as internet expansion all over the world, the curricula for the Communications & Computer Networks Diploma are designed for the rehabilitation of Saudi youth with knowledge and skills needed to work in the field of local and extended telecommunication and computer networking including its installation, maintenance and management, and security, besides assessing its performance.

As cannot be neglected, the Programming and Databases field also has increasing importance at public and private institutions and on the internet scale. In response to this fact, the Diploma of Programming and Databases was initiated to develop students' capacity in this scientific field, and train them in modern programming techniques through intensive practical applications, and the familiarization with databases in terms of their design and maintenance, besides providing students with professional training to deal with different operating systems.

1. To provide an opportunity for students who do not meet the university admission requirements to complete their applied education and get diplomas in specialized programs required by the marketplace.

2. To offer a high quality applied education able to graduate qualified human resources equipped with scientific knowledge and skills to compete in the marketplace.

3. To prepare curricula with diversified teaching and learning methods compatible with the needs of students and the business sector.

4. To develop a variety of assessment strategies and tools to measure various aspects of the learner with a view to promoting the learning process.

5. To enable students acquire knowledge with its professional and ethical application.

6. To develop and modernize programs to serve the applied educational process.

7. To encourage the Department faculty to conduct research in the field of administrative and social sciences in collaboration with other disciplines in the university, and with local and international companies.

8. To hold scientific and professional meetings and events for the purposes of developing administrative education, scientific research and social sciences.

9. To attract outstanding faculty locally and internationally to support the educational process.

To be committed to high quality in offering administrative and social sciences' programs, and to excellent academic performance in order to improve the quality of graduates and prepare them to compete in the marketplace.

The program of Administrative and Social Sciences seeks to enhance its contribution toward achieving the college and the university missions, which try to play a significant role in developing and serving the Saudi community by providing it with qualified and competent human resources in terms of scientific and practical skills that meet the needs of the labor market. To do so, this program qualifies graduates to obtain diplomas in the disciplines of accounting, law, marketing, insurance, banking, education, education for teachers of technical education, students' guidance and counseling, special education, and TV and radio co-direction.

Based on the university role in developing human resources and its belief in the importance of this role in the success of national enterprises and increase their productivity, a program of Administrative and Social Sciences has been established in the College of Applied Studies and Community Services. The establishment of this academic program, which aims to prepare well-qualified and competent human resources, highlights the university role in serving its community, and its commitment toward community engagement through developing human resources and refining their scientific and practical skills.

Currently, the program of Administrative and Social Sciences provides six diplomas; one of them is for male and female university graduates called "General Diploma in Education", and the remaining five for male and female students who obtained a secondary school certificate. These five Diplomas are in the field of: Accounting, Laws, Insurance, Banking, Finance, and Marketing.

The aim of the General Diploma in Education is to prepare teachers for the different stages of education at the kingdom from a pedagogical perspective. The remaining five Diplomas contribute to provide the marketplace with the needed highly qualified and trained workforce. Besides these diplomas, the program also offers, though not on a regular basis, a diploma in radio and television co-production, which aims to introduce the principles and techniques of radio and television production. And in order to prepare and qualify psychologists in the field of student's guidance and counseling at primary, intermediate and secondary schools in the light of the objectives and tasks set by the Ministry of Education, the program of Administrative and Social Sciences also provides a specialized Diploma in Students' Counseling and Guidance.
