Students' Rights Subcommittee represents the first phase, in which students can make any claims and remove any injustice inflicted upon him. It could be said that this Sub-committee is the interface to the real work of the Students' Rights Unit, and the reflection of its importance.
Students' Rights Sub-Committees at every college or institute is responsible for receiving students' complaints about any academic and non-academic problems faced by students within the college or institute, even if the complaint is against a faculty member. The complaints are adjudicated within a period of thirty days at most as of the date of submission. If the Subcommittee decides not to adjudicate the complaint as it may have special importance or owing to moral inhibitions precluding the Subcommittee from making the right decision, the Subcommittee shall refer the complaint to the Standing Committee at the university to decide on it.
At the invitation of its chairman, the Subcommittee shall meet every fifteen days at least. The meeting is valid in the presence of the majority of its members provided that the chairman is present. All the minutes of the meetings shall be documented and signed by present members. The Subcommittee shall issue its decisions by a majority of present members' votes. In case of equal votes, the chairman's side has the casting vote. The decision shall become valid as of the date of approval by the respective authority in accordance with the rules and regulations in force, and the decision shall be announced after approval to the concerned parties.
